It’s the little things that matter.  In addition to backing up your site you should also do some basic things to secure it from intentional and unintentional destruction.

The Secure WordPress plugin will not only help prevent malicious attacks on your site but also restricts some of the actions of other users of your blog (such as author or editors) can perform which might result in accidental problems.

Get the Secure WordPress plugin here or install it by going to Plugins -> Add New and typing “secure wordpress” into the search box.  The current version is 1.0.6.

This plugin will add a menu item.  Settings -> Secure WP is where you can configure the settings for this plugin.  If you make changes be sure to “Save Changes” like always.
